Monticello at Little Falls
1 p.m., Saturday, May 21

A late-season non-league matchup pits a pair of Class 3A Top 10 teams against each other in preparation for the playoff stretch.

Monticello has picked up extra-inning victories over No. 4-3A St. Cloud Tech and No. 13-4A St. Michael-Albertville this year and will close its final five games of the regular season on the road.

Junior left-handed pitcher Nick Zwack is the No. 8-3A Magic’s (10-5) ace, giving up an average of 1.66 runs per game. Zwack didn't allow an earned run and struck out 15 batters in Monticello’s 3-1 win over St. Cloud Tech on April 25.

Little Falls has won eight of nine games in May, including a 4-2 victory over No. 15-4A Maple Grove. The No. 2-3A Flyers (12-3) tallied five hits against Minnesota commit Charlie Horton, who’s one of the top pitchers in the Class of 2017.
