Eastview at Burnsville
4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 18

Wednesday’s rematch between Eastview and Burnsville could prove to be the deciding game in the South Suburban Conference race as the Lightning hold a game and a half lead in the standings following a 7-6 victory over the Blaze on May 6.

This contest will likely determine which team will get the top seed in Class 4A, Section 3 as well.

Eastview defeated Eagan 7-4 on Saturday as North Dakota State commit Riley Johnson struck out five in a complete game. The Lightning (13-3, 12-3) can clinch the league crown outright if they can get past No. 8-4A Prior Lake on Monday and beat the No. 16-4A Blaze.

Burnsville rolled the Lakers 8-3 on Saturday and can clinch a share of the league title if it can win out at home this week. Florida commit Sam Carlson pitched for the Blaze in the first meeting this season.

Sophomore Tommy Springer ignited No. 6-4A Eastview's offense by blasting a two-run homer in the fourth inning to break a 4-4 tie with the Blaze (13-4, 11-4). Johnson struggled early in the first meeting, but found his curveball and retired the final six batters to clinch the game for the Lightning.
