Champlin Park at Elk River
4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 27

Champlin Park and Elk River are no strangers to tough competition this season, experience that should benefit both when they met in a big Northwest Suburban Conference clash on Wednesday.

The No. 13-4A Rebels (5-2, 2-2) have decisive victories over Lake Conference powerhouses No. 2-4A Minnetonka and No. 10-4A Eden Prairie and lost each of their games by a single run.

Champlin Park senior pitcher and Central Michigan commit Sam Goodman has allowed just four hits and one earned run (0.62 ERA) in 11 1/3 innings. The 6-foot-3 left-hander has tallied 23 strikeouts this season.

Elk River (4-1, 4-1) has also handled elite competition, defeating No. 11-4A Maple Grove, No. 16-4A Robbinsdale Armstrong and shutting out No. 15-4A Anoka 3-0 last Saturday.
