Bemidji at Alexandria
4 p.m., Thursday, April 21

Bemidji (2-0) collectively batted .397 over two games to open its season with dominant wins over East Grand Forks and Brainerd last week by scores of 17-0 and 9-5, respectively.

Sophomore Otto Grimm had a busy week, hitting a two-run homer and collecting five RBI against the Green Wave, and then pitching 4 and ⅓ innings against the Warriors to close the game and clinch the win.

Senior and Southwest Minnesota State commit Matt Morgan’s three-run double helped Bemidji overcome a 5-1 deficit against Brainerd.

Alexandria (1-1) opened the season with a 9-2 romping of Fergus Falls, but fell short in an 18-17 slugfest with Central Lakes Conference rival Brainerd on April 14 that totaled 33 hits and 10 errors.

Seniors Brayden Amundson and Noah Hittle each went 4-for-4 in the loss to the Warriors. Amundson drove in four runs while Hittle tallied three RBI for No. 1-3A Alexandria.

The Cardinals are currently without junior pitcher Jake Drew, who’s one of Alexandria’s top threats on the hill.

The teams split last year’s regular season double-header, and Thursday will also be a twin bill. The Cardinals ultimately ended the Jacks' season in the Class 3A, Section 8 quarterfinals last year.
