Lewiston-Altura at Hayfield
4:15 p.m., Friday, April 15

Lewiston-Altura has been groomed well during Three Rivers Conference play, which led to its first state tournament berth following two victories over Hayfield in the Class 1A, Section 1 finals last season.

The Cardinals lost three players to graduation, but return six starters and two regular pitchers as they attempt to return to the state tournament.

Senior shortstop and Rochester Community College commit Hunter Brommerich anchors the infield for No. 4-1A Lewiston-Altura, while pitchers Cullin Neeck and Landon Kieffer will be the 1-2 punch on the hill this season.

The Vikings (2-0) defeated Lake City 4-1 on April 4 and Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 10-4 April 9. Junior Adam Fjerstad pitched six innings against J-W-P, allowing only two hits and three earned runs while striking out nine batters. He also hit two doubles for two RBI against Lake City.

Last year, Hayfield beat the Lewiston-Altura 4-1 in the regular season.
