New Life Academy at Minnehaha Academy
4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 13

Last year's Class 1A champion New Life Academy has moved up a class, and the Eagles open the new season with five games this week, including a matchup with defending Class 2A, Section 4 champion Minnehaha Academy on Wednesday.

New Life Academy returns five starters, and its roster is a blend of underclassmen with experience with four seniors, including catcher Simon Killeen and shortstop Brad Goulet. Goulet drove in Killeen on the game-winning single in the state championship last year.

The No. 2-2A Redhawks (2-1) had a busy first week, edging No. 8-3A Holy Angels 8-6 on April 7 before losing to No. 14-2A Belle Plaine 9-7 and rolling Hinckley-Finlayson 10-1 on April 9.
