Minnetonka at Chaska
1 p.m., Saturday, April 16

Minnetonka (2-1) played three games last week, including a narrow 5-4 victory over No. 10-3A Waconia on Saturday.

Skippers junior and Oregon commit Jimmy Ramsey went 3-for-4 in a 10-4 win over Buffalo in the season opener, including a two-run homer and four RBI. Senior Jacob Raether picked up the win, pitching four innings and striking out four batters for No. 3-4A Minnetonka.

The lone blemish on the Skippers' record was a 7-4 loss to Champlin Park.

Chaska graduated four crucial players from a team that dropped two one-run games to Chanhassen in last year's Class 3A, Section 2 finals. The five returning starters are seeking to repeat as Metro West Conference champions and make a run in the newly formed Class 4A, Section 2.

Section primers with Eden Prairie and Minnetonka this week will help the No. 10-4A Hawks assess how they stack up against their postseason foes.

Nebraska commit Luke Roskam returns as Chaska’s ace on the hill. The senior is not only one of the state’s top pitching prospects, but also a force in the batter’s box and behind the plate at catcher.

The Hawks also get back the left side of the diamond in junior third baseman Jacob Goraczkowski and senior shortstop Reid Young, as well as senior Connor Ploen and sophomore Benji Hidalgo in the outfield.

The Hawks beat the Skippers 3-2 in last year’s regular-season finale.
