Mahtomedi’s Sean Hjelle was the more heralded pitcher in Friday’s Class 3A quarterfinal game against Armstrong. But he was not the best pitcher.

That honor belongs to Armstrong lefthander Jordan Kuznia, who outdueled the 6-foot-11 Hjelle, giving up just four hits and one first-inning run as Armstrong downed the No. 3-seeded Zephyrs 2-1.
