Lakeville North at Apple Valley
4:15 p.m., Thursday, May 14

Lakeville North and Apple Valley are involved in a great race in the South Suburban Conference, with Shakopee leading the way by just one game over the Panthers, Eagles and Eastview. Perennial contender Burnsville isn’t far off the pace, either.

No. 3-3A Lakeville North (10-5, 8-5) has lost two straight following a five-game winning streak, which itself followed a three-game skid.

Brett Herber was 2-for-4 with three RBI and Nick Juiare had two hits, including a double, and two RBI in the Panthers' 6-5 victory over Prior Lake on May 4. Nebraska commit Angelo Altavilla drew four walks and had a stolen base and a run scored.

One of Lakeville North's earlier defeats was to Apple Valley 3-2 on April 23. Zach Parks earned his first varsity victory on the mound, while Noah Sibell picked up the save for the Eagles (9-6, 8-5).

Apple Valley has dropped three consecutive conference games, including back-to-back shutouts to Prior Lake (1-0 on May 6) and Eastview (6-0 on May 8), and slipped into second place after leading the circuit just a week ago.
