Eden Prairie at Wayzata
4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 29

One of the toughest baseball leagues in the state, the Lake Conference is setting up early as a battle between Eden Prairie and Wayzata, each of whom is 2-0 to start the conference slate. That makes Wednesday’s game at Wayzata an important one in the sorting process.

No. 15-3A Wayzata (8-1) has won eight straight games since opening with a home loss to Champlin Park — the only game in which it’s given up more than three runs. Since that game, the Trojans have allowed just 10 runs total, an impressive run of pitching that is reflected in the staff depth with Brendan Broady, Thomas Skoro, Michael Bohlke, David Trenda and Ryan Fox each winning at least one game this spring.

No. 5-3A Eden Prairie (5-3) is also rolling, but it's the Eagles offense that has propelled a three-game winning streak. Eden Prairie outscored Edina, Totino-Grace and Grand Rapids by a combined 31-5 during the run.
