Albany at Little Falls
5 p.m., Tuesday, April 21

St. Cloud Cathedral has been the bully on the Granite Ridge Conference block since the conference was formed a few short years ago, but a pair of programs hope to push the Crusaders this spring. No. 8-2A Albany (6-1) travels to No. 16-2A Little Falls (4-2) in a game that could propel one as a true contender to the Crusaders’ crown.

Albany has lost just once (a tight 3-2 loss at Cathedral on April 17), but showed it can play with the favorites. The Huskies had just two hits off Cathedral starter Dominic Austing, but forced extra innings by scoring twice in the second inning.

Little Falls has won four straight since a two-game skid to start the year, allowing just eight runs in those four games. In a 13-1 victory at Milaca on April 17, Jeremy Klein and Chris Reller each drove in three runs. The Flyers had just six hits, but walked 18 times against three Milaca pitchers. Mitchell Boros tossed four innings of one-hit ball to gain the victory.
