St. Anthony Village at DeLaSalle
7 p.m., Thursday, April 23

As the Tri-Metro Conference gets into the meat of its schedule, two programs expected to be among the favorites renew acquaintances Thursday night, as No. 18-2A St. Anthony Village (1-2) visits No. 13-2A DeLaSalle (5-1).

After dropping its first two games of the spring, St. Anthony Village finally got on track in a 12-1 victory at St. Paul Como Park last Friday. Bennett Wiggins tripled and drove in three runs, while Justice Spriggs doubled twice and had two RBI. They’re key veterans expected to lead an otherwise inexperienced Huskies’ team. Joe Wehr pitched five hitless innings in the shortened game, striking out four.

DeLaSalle had been running roughshod over its opponents until being shut down by Holy Angels’ Shannon Ahern in a 6-0 loss on April 17. The Islanders had scored 88 runs in winning six of their first seven games.
