Burnsville at Lakeville North
4:15 p.m., Wednesday, April 22

Through the first two weeks of the regular season, No. 1 Lakeville North (5-0) has looked every bit the favorite in Class 3A. In five victories, the Panthers have only played one “easy” game, but have won a pair of one-run games and another by two runs. Call it “knowing how to win,” and nowhere was it more evident than in their most recent game, a 6-5 come-from-behind victory over Eden Prairie on April 16. The Panthers trailed most of the game before Drew Stewart’s two-run, walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning.

No. 19-3A Burnsville (2-2) is one of many solid programs chasing North in the South Suburban Conference this spring. The Blaze have played a shutout game in three of their first four, twice on the winning end (1-0 over Rosemount and 13-0 over Farmington) and once in a loss (5-0 at Wayzata). Sophomore Sam Carlson threw a gem against Rosemount, allowing just two hits and striking out four in a complete-game effort.
