Fairmont at New Ulm
5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23

Like Marshall, No. 5-2A New Ulm (4-1) is chasing No. 2-2A Fairmont (7-0) in the Big South Conference standings again this spring. New Ulm has played some wild games so far, outscoring its opposition 41-24 in five games. Luke Irmiter scored on a single by Matt Rowley with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to cap a five-run rally Friday against Blue Earth Area, as the Eagles won 6-5. This is a big week for New Ulm, which also plays Marshall on Monday night.

For all Fairmont’s pitching, the Cardinals can certainly hit the ball, as well. Cole Emler hit his first career homer in a win against Heron Lake-Okabena, and junior third baseman Tyler Tennyson clubbed three homers in a 20-5 win against Martin County West, both games on April 11 at the MCW Tournament.
