Fairmont at Marshall
5 p.m., Tuesday, April 21

No. 2-2A Fairmont (7-0) makes its first of two appearances in our top games of the week, visiting No. 9-2A Marshall (5-1) Tuesday night in a key Big South Conference match-up.

The Cardinals finished as the state runner-up to St. Cloud Cathedral last spring and are ranked right behind the No. 1 Crusaders again as late April arrives. Fairmont has allowed one or fewer runs in five of its seven victories. Matt Lytle struck out four in six innings against Blue Earth Area in the Cardinals’ last game and is a great No. 2 starter behind ace Spencer Chirpich.

Marshall dropped its last game to unbeaten West Fargo (N.D.), 2-1 on April 18, ending a five-game winning streak for the Tigers.
