Top players in all three classes selected by coaches

Nearly half of the Class 3A 30-man all-state roster comes from four teams: Eden Praire, Burnsville, Stillwater and Centennial.

All-state rosters were released Monday by the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Maple Grove, which took an undefeated record into the postseason and will take on the Blaze in the state championship, has only one all-state selection in shortstop Karl Sorenson.

Similarly in Class 2A, St. Cloud Cathedral's lone selection is pitcher Andrew Thome.

Eden Valley-Watkins, the Class 1A powerhouse, received to two all-state selections: Shortstop Kevin Kramer and pitcher Matt Geislinger.

Geislinger nearly had a perfect game in the 2011 state tournament quarterfinals, giving up a hit with one out in the seventh inning.

The Eagles will vie for the 2011 championship this week.

All-state team selections are decided by the coaches in each class. All players on the team must receive a nomination from their head coach to be eligible for the honor.
