The young baseball season has already seen some outstanding individual efforts, including a pair of pitching performances of note this week:
• On Monday, Coon Rapids sophomore right-hander Logan Shore struck out 15 Anoka batters in just six innings of work during an 8-0 victory.
Shore has been on the radar for a couple of years; during his freshman season, associate White Sox scout Adam Barta referred to him as "a 15-year-old kid with a 22-year-old's learning ability."
• On Wednesday, White Bear Lake senior Ben Clark threw six no-hit innings against perennial power Cretin-Derham Hall, striking out 10. Junior Christian Zellner closed for the Bears and also didn't allow a hit, giving the squad a combined no-hitter in a 2-0 victory.
