Player of the Week winner revealed (updated)

Player of the Week winner

Sam Thoresen, Minnetonka. The senior held Maple Grove hitless, pitching all seven innings in a 3-0 win. Thoresen collected six strikeouts in the victory.

Player of the Week candidates

Logan Aleshire, St. Cloud Tech. The senior recorded a 1-0 win over Sauk Rapids-Rice, pitching a complete game while allowing one hit and striking out five batters.

Jordan Barth, Rocori. The senior, who is tied for seventh in the state with a .536 batting average, drove in four runs on two doubles in a 5-4 win over Belle Plaine.

Noah Couwenhoven, Fridley. In a 4-1 win over Providence Academy, the junior gave up one run on one hit and struck out five batters over five innings. Couwenhoven also contributed on offense, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored.

Derek Drees, Benilde-St. Margaret’s. The senior struck out nine batters while pitching a complete game shutout against Chaska. Drees allowed just three hits as the Red Knights won 2-0.

Max Floeder, St. Agnes. The senior went 2-for-4 in a 6-5 win over Columbia Heights, collecting three RBI.

Jack Kelly, St. Michael-Albertville. In a 6-5 win over St. Francis, Kelly tallied three RBI to bring his season total to 31, tied for most in the state. The senior went 2-for-4, including his eighth triple of the season.

Tanner Ketola, Silver Bay. The senior went 1-for-3 with a home run, recording three RBI a 4-1 win over Nashwauk-Keewatin.

Calvin Mannz, Redwood Valley. The senior went 3-for-3 with a double in a 6-4 win over Lac qui Parle Valley, driving in three runs.

Sam Riola, Blaine. In a 3-1 victory over St. Francis, the senior pitched six innings to bring his season total to 49 1/3 -- eighth most in the state. Riola struck out six batters while allowing one run on two hits. The win was his eighth of the season, tied for most in the state.
