Righthander Sam Carlson has helped Burnsville tie Lakeville North at the top of the South Suburban Conference with identical records: 13-4 overall, 12-3 conference.

The spring postseason is getting ever closer — boys’ tennis begins section play this week, in fact — yet we have hardly mentioned baseball this season. Here’s a quick rundown of the metro conference races.

IMAC: Defending Class 2A champ Minnehaha Academy (15-1 overall, 9-0 conference) has clinched the league championship.

Lake: Wayzata (11-3, 5-1) holds a one-game lead over Minnetonka (10-4, 3-1). They meet at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Minnetonka.

Metro East: Tartan (13-3, 13-1) has sown up the title.

Metro West: Chaska (12-3, 10-0) has a two-game lead over Benilde-St. Margaret’s (10-5, 8-2), but they face each other twice, including 7 p.m. Monday at Benilde.

Minneapolis: Washburn (13-2, 7-1) holds a half-game lead over Southwest (12-3, 6-1). Washburn won the lone head-to-head meeting 5-1.

Minnesota River: No. 1, 2A Belle Plaine (13-1, 8-1) holds a two-game lead.

Mississippi 8: St. Michael-Albertville (14-1, 9-1) leads Buffalo (7-8, 7-2) by 1½ games. They play at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo.

MCAA: A logjam at the top with three teams — New Life, Legacy and Southwest Christian — all with a chance.

Northwest Suburban: Centennial is 8-3 in league play; Champlin Park and Blaine are 7-2; Maple Grove, Anoka and Andover are all 7-3. Too much going on to speculate.

South Suburban: Burnsville and Lakeville North have identical records: 13-4 overall, 12-3 in conference. Eastview is a game back at 12-4, 11-4.

St. Paul: Central is 4-0 in conference play, Johnson and Highland Park 4-1. Highland Park plays host to Johnson at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and visits Central on May 23.

Suburban East: Stillwater (13-3, 11-2) put itself in a comfortable position with a 4-3, eight-inning victory over second-place Forest Lake (12-5, 9-4) Wednesday.

Tri-Metro: Holy Angels (11-4, 6-1) has a half-game lead over Fridley and St. Anthony, both 6-2 in league play.

Wright County: West — Both No. 1, 3A Waconia (14-0, 8-0) and Hutchinson (10-4, 6-0) are undefeated in the East division. They play at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hutchinson. East — Glencoe-Silver Lake (12-4, 8-2) plays host to New London-Spicer (10-3, 7-2) at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
