Champlin Park finished last season 24-4 and cruised to the Northwest Suburban Conference championship. The Rebels ran through the regular season with a 12-game winning streak and built off that momentum for a runner-up finish in Class 4A state tournament, losing 9-1 to Wayzata.

Despite returning only two members of that team, the Rebels, ranked No. 6 in Class 4A in the Associated Press poll, will be aiming to make another deep postseason run.

One of the major hurdles for Champlin Park (3-1, 2-0) will be No. 11-4A Centennial. The Cougars gave the Rebels all they could handle last season, losing three one-run games to Champlin Park and coming out ahead once. Centennial (3-0, 2-0) seems to have a more explosive offense in 2017 and is undefeated in early season action.

With so much on the line in conference standings this early in the season, this contest between Champlin Park and Centennial is our Top Game of the Week.
