Conference schedules will be ending over the next two weeks and numerous games across the state will have high implications in deciding eventual league champions.

The Lake Conference is often regarded as the one of the most competitive and decorated leagues in the state, and the top two ranked teams in Class 4A are also tied atop the Lake standings, with a crucial game Monday.

Minnetonka and Wayzata currently hold the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively, in the Class 4A poll by Let’s Play Baseball, and both teams have 4-1 league records.

The top-ranked Skippers currently have the edge in the standings after defeating the Trojans 2-0 on April 29. If Minnetonka (12-2, 4-1) can complete the season sweep, the Skippers will further their claim for the league crown as they’ll try to clinch the title outright for the first time in over 10 years.

Wayzata has given up only one run in its past three games and the Trojans (9-2, 4-1) will be looking for their fourth consecutive win since dropping games to the Skippers and No. 5-4A Edina.

In a classic No. 1 versus No. 2 matchup that could resolve a tiebreaker scenario in the conference or shake things up in the standings, Minnetonka at Wayzata earns our nod as the Top Game of the Week.
