Mahtomedi and Hill-Murray get to experience playing at a professional ballpark - and gain valuable insight on competing in a postseason venue - when the Metro East Conference rivals clash at CHS Field in downtown St. Paul on Wednesday in our Top Game of the Week.

The ballpark hosts this year's Section 4 championship games in Class 3A and Class 4A, meaning the Zephyrs and the Pioneers could find themselves competing for a state tournament bid on the field in early June should each string together enough wins in the playoffs.

But let's not look too far ahead, especially with a conference championship hanging in the balance.

Ranked second in Class 3A by Let’s Play Baseball, Mahtomedi (10-4, 8-3) can strengthen its grip on the league lead by defeating Hill-Murray for the second time this season. The Zephyrs shutout the Pioneers 3-0 on April 20.

Hill-Murray has ridden a five-game winning streak to the top of the league standings, and avenging one of two losses on the season could be the motivation the Pioneers need to not only knock off the defending conference co-champion but also stay in the hunt for this year's crown.
