Benilde-St. Margaret's senior shortstop Keaton Studsrud has earned one of the Minneapolis StarTribune's athlete of the week honors.

The 12th-ranked Red Knights, who started the season on a 12-game winning streak, snapped a three-game losing streak with three wins this past week, in large part due to the offense of Studsrud.

In the three wins, he went 8-for-12 with three doubles and six RBI, capping the week with a 5-for-5 performance in Friday’s 11-5 win over Robbinsdale Cooper, in which he doubled twice and drove in five runs.

He extended his hitting streak to 14 consecutive games and now sports a .545 average on the season with an .891 slugging percentage. He has two home runs and has driven in 21 runs while accounting for 40 of BSM’s 116 runs (34.5 percent) through 18 games.

An honor roll student who carries a 3.29 grade point average, Studsrud is a second-year captain for the Red Knights and was a captain and school record-setting quarterback for BSM’s North Suburban Conference championship football team this past fall.

Earlier this year, he signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of North Dakota, where he will attend next year on a football scholarship.
