Irondale's three-run first inning provides enough to down BSM.

Irondale scored three times in the top of the first inning and, despite a three-hit, two-RBI effort by Keaton Studstrud, the Knights handed Benilde-St. Margaret's its third consecutive defeat by a score of 8-2.

John Vecere did not allow a run in three and one-third innings of relief work.

Irondale scored three times in the top of the first inning and, despite a three-hit, two-RBI effort by Keaton Studstrud, the Knights handed Benilde-St. Margaret's its third consecutive defeat by a score of 8-2.

A pair of mental errors and one fielding error enabled the visitors to score three runs in the first inning, all of which came with two out.

The Red Knights got one run back in the bottom of the first when Keaton Studsrud drove an 0-1 pitch over the centerfield fence for his second home run of the season.

The big blow of the game came in the third inning when Irondale loaded the bases with one out before Nate Ostland, who fouled off three two-strike pitches, cleared the bases with a double to right field.

BSM was unable to take care of several scoring opporunities, eventually leaving eight runners on base, before scoring its final run in the seventh inning after Sam Lynch doubled with one out, advanced to third base on a wild pitch and, with two out, scored on Studsrud's infield single.

Lynch and Marshall Hoemke both had doubles among the Red Knights' seven base hits, of which Studsrud had three, raising his batting average of .512 on the season.

After Irondale scored seven runs in the first three innings, John Vecere came on to throw 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing three hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

Entering the final week of North Suburban Conference play, BSM has three games on the slate, beginning with their final NSC road game, Monday, at Spring Lake Park. The game's first pitch is slated for 4:15 p.m.
