Sixth-ranked Woodbury made its first pass through the Suburban East Conference with seven wins, two losses and loads of drama.
Three of those Royals’ victories came by one run, and one of those games – a 3-2 nailbiter against defending state champion Mounds View last Wednesday – ended in extra innings on a close play at home plate.
Round 2 of conference play continues on Wednesday at league-leading and No. 2-ranked Cretin-Derham Hall in our top Game of the Week.
The Raiders’ only loss this season was a 3-2 setback against the Royals on April 17. Cretin-Derham Hall, one of the state's standard bearers when it comes to churning out championship-caliber baseball teams year after year, has won three of its games this season by shutout.
