Benilde-St. Margaret's used three Irondale errors to score four unearned runs and Tyler Wyvell worked five strong innings in his first varsity start as the Red Knights won their seventh consecutive game with a 5-2 victory at Irondale.

Sam Lynch singled to open the game for BSM and promptly stole second base. Two outs later, Mikey McGill singled through the left side of the infield and Lynch raced home with the game's first run.

The Knights responded in the bottom half of the opening frame as Ben Bookey singled and stole second and, like the Red Knights, got an RBI single from their clean up hitter, Ben Danielson, two outs later.

It was in the third inning when an Irondale miscue led to the visitors taking the lead for good.

With two outs, Nathan Hanks and Keaton Studsrud both singled to put runners on first and third. McGill then reached on an error to plate Hanks with Studsrud moving to third and Michael Kaminski followed with an RBI single to give BSM a 3-1 lead.

Marshall Hoemke led off the fourth inning with a single and immediately advanced to second on a passed ball before moving to third on Wyvell's sacrifice bunt. Hoemke then scored when Colin Polarek lofted a fly ball to right field, which was dropped and saw the Red Knights' nine hitter reach second base.

Polarek reached third on a ground out to second by Lynch before Hanks walked. Studsrud followed with an RBI single and Hanks advanced from second to third on a fielding error on the play.

Studsrud then stole second base but Irondale's Tony Grabowske got out of the jam by inducing a pop out by McGill as he retired 10 of the final 12 batters he faced.

Meanwhile, Wyvell rolled along after allowing the first-inning run. He worked five innings, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out three in an 82-pitch outing.

The victory gives BSM a 4-0 mark in North Suburban Conference play and the seven consecutive wins is the team's best start since going 7-0 to open the 2006 season.

The Red Knights are slated to return to action Thursday with a 4:15 p.m. game at home versus conference foe Spring Lake Park.
