Michael Kaminski scattered 12 hits en route to a complete game and Benilde-St. Margaret’s won its third game in three days with a 5-4 win over Bloomington Jefferson.

The Red Knights backed their pitcher with two runs in the first inning on a single by Nathan Hanks, back-to-back walks to Keaton Studsrud and Mikey McGill and Kaminski's own RBI single. One out later, Chris Racchini worked a bases-loaded walk for the second run.

Kaminski worked efficiently through the first four innings, needing 55 pitches to that point, including a nine-pitch fourth in which the Jaguars scored their first run.

BSM answered with three runs in its half of the fourth, two of which were unearned.

Chris Landis opened the inning with a base hit and Sam Lynch reached when he laid down a sacrifice bunt and pitcher Tanner Houston's throw to first was off target. Nathan Hanks then bunted for a hit and, once again, Houston's throw missed its target at first base, allowing Landis to score.

Keaton Studsrud then followed with a sacrifice to drive in Lynch. Hanks followed by stealing second base and, one out later, scored on Kaminski's second hit of the game.

After using a strikeout to get out of the fifth inning and a double play ground ball in the sixth, Kaminski took a four-run lead into the seventh but back-to-back singles to open the innin, by Cody Tucholke and Brian Mariski, and a two-run double by Kyle Lynch, one out later, cut the lead to 5-3.

Josh Hansen then reached on an error to put runners on the corner and Cole Ancel followed with a fly ball to Marshall Hoemke in right field to plate Hansen.

However, pinch runner Sean Bannigan attempted to advance into scoring position when Hoemke's throw was not cut off by Landis' throw from home to Studsrud covering second was in time to record the game's final out.

Jefferson outhit the Red Knights, 12-10, with four players recording multiple-hit games, led by Jake Schubert's 3-for-3 effort.

Hanks matched that 3-for-3 effort, including two bunt singles and a sacrifice bunt. Kaminski, who drove in a pair of runs, and Landis both added a pair of singles apiece.

On the mound, Kaminski did not walk a batter and struckout four in going the distance, allowed four runs, three of which were earned, on 12 hits.

BSM returns to North Suburban Conference play, Tuesday, when it hosts Fridley in a 4:15 p.m. contest.
