Benilde-St. Margaret's alum Adam Weisenburger ('07) has been assigned to the Arizona Fall League by the Milwaukee Brewers for the 2013 fall season.

In his third professional season, Weisenburger was a non-roster invitee to Milwaukee's spring training camp.

He was released from the Brewers' camp and assigned to Huntsville of the class AA Southern where he batted .251 with five home runs and 24 RBI. He had two stints on the disabled list, where he finished the season after having arthroscopic knee surgery in August.

One of the most accomplished athletes in school history, Weisenburger earned all-conference honors in three sports (baseball, hockey, soccer) during his career as a Red Knight.

He was the team’s starting catcher for four years, earning all-conference honors in each season. Weisenburger was a two-time All-Metro selection, a member of the 2005 all-state tournament team and the team’s most valuable player in 2007, also being selected for the Lions' All-Star game following his senior season.

He played in 94 consecutive games, beginning with the season opener in 2004, before missing the only game of his career as a senior. In 105 career games, Weisenburger batted .396, had a .473 on-base percentage, drove in 76 runs, scored 96 runs and stole 19 bases.

As a member of the Red Knights’ 2006 state championship soccer team, he led the conference in assists before earning all-conference honors in hockey as a senior and his baseball number, 3, has been retired.

Weisenburger was selected by the Brewers in the 34th round of the 2011 draft following a four-year career at Miami University, where he batted .298 with 16 home runs and 92 runs batted in during his career. He was a co-captain for the RedHawks' in both 2010 and 2011.

The Arizona Fall League, which was begun in 1993, is an off-season league owned and operated by Major League Baseball which operates during the fall at six spring training complexes and attracts many of the top prospects in minor league baseball.

Each Major League team sends seven players to the AFL and managers, coaches and trainers are all provided by MLB teams.

In the AFL's 20 years, approximately 60 percent of the players who have appeared in the league have reached the major leagues.

Weisenburger will play for the Surprise Saguaros, which features players from the Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers.
