Logan Shore made it easy to determine Minnesota's baseball Gatorade Player of the Year. The Coon Rapids pitcher and position player put up elite numbers on both offense and defense.

Shore was 4-0 with a 0.27 ERA, struck out 32 batters, gave up just 14 hits and four walks from the mound. From the plate, he hit .429 and had 12 RBI.

"It was a big goal of mine for this season," Shore said. "Getting the award is a huge honor and I am very blessed."

The 2012 Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year led the Cardinals to a 13-3 regular-season record and into the Section 5, Class 3A winner's bracket final scheduled for Friday at Midway Stadium.

He is committed to the University of Florida and projected as an early pick in next month's MLB amateur draft.

Rochester Century's Mitch Brown was Minnesota's 2012 Gatorade POY winner. He was drafted in the second round and signed by the Cleveland Indians.
