Ten-run fifth inning gives Trojans come-from-behind win over Red Knights.

Mikey McGill had his second consecutive three-hit game to raise his batting average to .407 on the season.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s appeared to be on its way to victory after a six-run fourth inning gave the Red Knights a 7-0 lead.

Wayzata responded with four runs in the bottom of the fourth and sent 15 batters to the plate in a 10-run fifth inning to pull out a 14-9 win.

BSM came out swinging the bats as the Red Knights had eight hits in the first four innings and finished with a season-high 15 for the game.

They took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Marshall Hoemke led off with a double and moved to third on Dan Labosky’s bounce out to the pitcher. Hoemke then scored on a sacrifice fly by Nathan Hanks.

BSM sent 10 batters to the plate in the fourth inning, with the first five all collecting singles. Keaton Studsrud capped the inning with a two-run double to give the Red Knights a seven-run lead.

Wayzata responded by putting together five hits to plate four runs in their half of the fourth inning and, after three consecutive hits to open the fifth inning, chasing BSM starter Michael Kaminski and forcing Dan Labosky to come on in relief for the second day in a row.

Labosky would retire just one batter while allowing three hits, two walks and six runs, four of which were unearned, before Keaton Studsrud came on for his first career pitching appearance as a Red Knight.

Studsrud struckout the first batter he faced but allowed back-to-back doubles before getting out of the inning.

Neither team scored in the sixth inning but the Red Knights appeared to rediscover their offense as Mikey McGill, Jimmy Cron and Colin Polarek all singled to open up the inning with Polarek driving in McGill with his hit.

One out later, Labosky drove in Cron with a base hit but Connor Trygstad, who came on to get the final out of the fourth inning, retired Hanks and Studsrud to end the threat and the game.

For the second consecutive game, McGill went 3-for-4. Studsrud and Polarek each had two hits and two RBI and Kaminski also collected a pair of hits. Labosky’s base hit in the seventh inning extended his hitting streak to nine games.

BSM is slated to be in action again Wednesday for a North Suburban Conference game at Fridley. First pitch is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
