Falk tosses two-hitter in complete-game shutout.

Willie Falk pitched his first career complete game, allowing just two hits in Benilde-St. Margarets' 14-0, five-inning win over Columbia Heights.

After scoring an unearned run in the first inning, the Red Knights exploded for six runs in the second inning.

The rally started quickly as Grant besse led off the inning with a base hit on a 1-1 pitch and Dan Labosky, who came on as a courtesy runner for the BSM catcher, stole second base on the first pitch to Jack McGinn, who delivered an RBI single to left field on the next pitch.

One out later, Sam Lynch tripled to right field to drive home McGinn and Robby Sutherland followed with an RBI double and then stole third base. Andrew Murnane walked and both he and Sutherland scored on Keaton Studsrud's double. Studsrud would eventually score on Spencer Shaver's sacrifice fly.

A five-run third inning, highlighted by doubles by Matt Ambre and Murnane, put the game out of reach and Falk cruised to the finish, getting four strikeouts among the final six batters he faced.

In earning his first shutout, Falk issue just two walks and struck out nine batters.

Murnane's three-hit performance, in which he drove in two runs and scored twice, led the Red Knight offense. Sutherland had two hits and Studsrud drove in three runs. Bobby Papetti, the only starter in the BSM lineup without a hit, also drove in a pair of runs.
