McGill picks up first victory with solid relief outing.

Mikey McGill pitched three and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief and Benilde-St. Margaret's made four early runs stand up for a 4-2 victory over Chisago Lakes.

Willie Falk started strong on the mound for the Red Knights but gave up two runs in the third inning and hit a batter and walked another in the fourth inning, leaving a runner on first with one out for McGill.

The BSM sophmore lefty needed just four pitches to get out of the inning, getting help from catches Gabe MacDonald, who threw out Miles Turk trying to steal second.

From that point, McGill would allow just one hit and two walks while striking out two to earn the victory.

The Red Knights scored three times in the bottom of the first inning as Dan Labosky, Joe Melles and Jimmy Heck led off with three consecutive doubles. Gabe MacDonald followed with an RBI single and drove in the game's fourth run in the second inning with a bases-loaded infield single.

McGill allowed just one base runner in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings but worked around each to prevent the Wildcats from closing the gap.

Falk, who was making his first varsity start, allowed two runs, one earned, on three whilds while walking three and striking out six.
