strong efforts go for naught

Patrick O'Donnell, Tyler Evans, and Nate Stong did all they could to give Andover Huskies a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past the Coon Rapids Cardinals, as Andover lost 3-1 at Andover High School on Wednesday.

The Huskies had opportunities against the Cardinals ace, Logan Shore, but once again could not get the clutch hit they needed. O'Donnell had a good day at the plate going 1-1 and drawing 2 walks. Evans was 2-3 with a single and a double. Nick Weeks also doubled off Shore and the Huskies lone run scored in the 6th on an RBI double by Kyle Gausman.

Nate Stong was a workhorse on the bump for the Huskies. Stong pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out four. His only mistake was a two-run triple by Bobby Smith in the third inning.

Logan Shore, who is one of the best pitchers in the state, got the win for the Cardinals. He allowed one run over seven innings. The hard throwing right hander struck out 10, walked three and surrendered five hits.
