Woodbury vs. Forest Lake
12:30 p.m., Saturday, May 21

A Suburban East Conference finale is slated between the league’s top two teams at Northwestern College on Saturday in what could be the deciding game for the league crown.

Forest Lake wasn’t ranked in the Class 4A preseason poll, but now in the final week of conference play, the Rangers (12-2, 11-2) have ascended to No. 4 by piecing together an eight-game winning streak which was sparked by a 2-0 victory over Woodbury on April 29.

The No. 10-4A Royals are currently in the midst of a five-game winning streak, averaging 10.6 runs per game in that span, including a 16-6 romping of former league leader No. 7-4A Cretin-Derham Hall.

Rangers ace Matt Wallner tossed a one-hit shutout in the first game against the Royals (14-3, 10-3), striking out 10 batters.

Woodbury senior Brady Mundahl was on the mound for the Royals, giving up four hits, including a home run, while striking out six.
