Randolph at Lyle/Austin Pacelli
4:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 17

Few teams have been able to stick with unbeaten Randolph this season, but after a 3-2 loss to the Rockets on April 22, Lyle/Austin Pacelli appears to be a formidable foe and will look to level the score in the final week of Southeast Conference play.

It would be difficult to take the top seed in Class 1A, Section 1 from Randolph in a split game scenario, but bragging rights will be on the line Tuesday night as both teams will also be preparing for the playoffs.

The Rockets have emerged as the top-ranked team in Class 1A, outscoring the competition 149-19 along the way. Randolph (14-0, 9-0) has had arguably the most dominant season in the state, holding opponents to two or fewer runs in all but one game this year.

Lyle/Austin Pacelli is on an eight game winning streak since its loss to Randolph. The Athletics (11-1, 6-1) can keep pace with the Rockets offensively as they’ve averaged nearly 12 runs per game this season, but the second meeting may be another case of small ball given both teams’ exceptional pitching staffs.

St. Thomas commit and right-handed pitcher Daniel Bollingberg threw 10 strikeouts for No. 11-1A Lyle/Austin Pacelli in the first game at Randolph, but the Rockets managed to plate the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
