Grand Rapids hosts St. Cloud Tech on Friday in a interesting interclass matchup.

The Thunderhawks play a nonconference schedule filled with top competition to prepare for the postseason, which may explain why they only have one win this year.

Despite its 1-9 record, Grand Rapids has four losses by just one run to No. 2-4A Minnetonka, No. 6-4A Eastview, No. 18-4A Eden Prairie and Anoka.

The Tigers finished last season with a 7-17 record but have emerged as a top contender in Class 3A this year.

St. Cloud Tech (10-1) completed a regular-season sweep of No. 3-3A Rocori after pitcher Trevor Koenig allowed just four hits and struck out 10 in the Tigers' 7-1 victory last Thursday.
