Holy Angels at Minnehaha Academy
4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 7

Holy Angels appears to have polished its play prior to the regular season, as the No. 8-3A Stars didn’t commit an error while routing Tartan 7-0 in a scrimmage last week.

Holy Angels returns all but one pitcher from its bullpen, including St. Cloud State commit Shannon Ahern, who posted a 0.21 ERA in five games last season.

Minnehaha Academy compiled a 26-2 record last season, with its only losses coming at the hands of St. Cloud Cathedral. The first was in the regular season and the other in the Class 2A state championship.

The No. 2-2A Redhawks graduated seven seniors, but have reloaded with an experienced junior-heavy roster. The team is anchored by two seniors in ace pitcher Jesse Retzlaff and shortstop Alex Fedje-Johnson, while senior Andrew Wolpert came on strong during the state tournament, posting a .375 batting average.

These teams met in last year’s season opener, with Minnehaha Academy tallying 23 hits in an 18-3 victory.
