No. 10 Cretin-Derham Hall at No. 1 Mounds View
4:15 p.m., Monday, April 14

Cretin-Derham Hall, with its record 11 state championships, is the standard bearer for state big-school baseball. The Raiders, however, haven't reached the state tournament since 2007, their longest drought since they became a fixture at the event in 1980. This could be the season to end that dry spell, as Cretin-Derham Hall has won its first two gams (over Hastings and White Bear Lake) by a combined 9-0. Mounds View is the defending state champion after posting a 20-6 record last season, capped by a dominating 8-0 triumph over Rocori in the title game. The Mustangs underwent some offseason turmoil, as coach Jon Nuss was fired two months after winning the state title. Mounds View returns the state's marquee player in lefty pitcher and first baseman Sam Hentges, an Arkansas recruit.
