Lakeville North, which won the consolation championship at last year's state tournament, escaped another extended winter by heading south Kissimmee, Fla., for workouts in early April. Ace pitcher Dalton Lehnen is off to a hot start, striking out 12 against Bloomington Kennedy in just five innings. He was also Lakeville North's top hitter last seaon with a .412 batting average and 20 RBI. Keep an eye on outfielder Drew Stewart, the Panthers' lone sophomore on the roster. He was the starting quarterback on the Panthers' state tournament football team and a clutch-shooting guard on Lakeville North's state championship basketball team.

Wayzata went 15-6 and won the Section 6, Class 3A state championship last season to reach the state tournament for just the second time in school history. The Trojans' deep pitching staff is led by senior Jack Sorensen, who was 5-0 with a 2.20 ERA heading into last year's state tournament.
